Williams wins controversial split decision over Lara

Trying to avenge his first knock out lost against super middleweight kingpin Sergio Maravilla, Paul " Punisher" Williams (40-2, 27 KOs) came back with a controversial split draw against former undefeated Erislanyd Lara (15-1-1, 10 KOs) last Saturday night at Broadwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ, the scores were  114-114, 115-114, 116-114 in favor for the returning Williams.

He didn’t make the statement he wanted as the much shorter Lara seemed to dominate the fight, but Williams came away with a very controversial majority decision. Lara repeatedly landed clean Martinez-style overhand lefts and turned Williams’face into a bloody mess at the end.
